Alma Jeanne Tarr died peacefully at the family ranch in Wikieup on Monday, Feb. 29, 2016. She was with her daughter Helen and grandson John Tarr Jr. She lived an extraordinary life and imparted a great love of life and joy to her children and especially to her grandchildren.
She was born to George L. Clemons and Pearl Clemons on May 17, 1923, in Danville, Ala.
Preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sheriff Robert M. Tarr; and siblings Harold Clemons, Ruby Gilbert, Dorothy Reed and George Clemons Jr.
She is survived by her children, Michael Tarr (Marguerite), Roberta Ball (Dean), Helen Patterson, Seth Tarr, John Tarr (Tess) and Arthur (Charito) Tarr; 15 grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren; her brothers Art Clemons (Del Dee) and Jesse (Enda) Clemons; and numerous nephews, nieces and dear friends.
Bob and Jeannie moved to Kingman in 1953 to raise their rapidly growing family. Bob was elected sheriff in 1963 and was killed in the line of duty on Oct. 21 of that same year. She taught us all that death is no more than a sleep until the resurrection to a paradise Earth where we will all be reunited.
She left a legacy of love and great stories to her loved ones.
