Letter of thanks: Passion for education appreciated

District 1 Democrats (Kingman) would like to thank Tom Duranceau for being our guest speaker at the March 14 meeting. The WAVE/JTED board member spoke on vocational and technical education efforts through Western Arizona Vocational Education's Joint Technical Education District. It became clear Mr. Duranceau is passionate about young people's access to vocational and technical education.

It was very enlightening to learn course work is available through Lee Williams High School and the four other public high schools in the two counties served. These public schools offer programs that prepare our children for careers in welding, culinary arts, nursing, automotive, HVAC and other fields. This training offers students career choices and allows many to stay in Kingman securing meaningful employment.

Our congratulations to the WAVE/JTED program.

Mr. Duranceau's enthusiasm was contagious as nearly everyone attending joined in the discussion.

Not only do we thank Mr. Duranceau for taking an hour out of his busy schedule to address the crowd but for serving the Kingman area.

Sincerely,

Leonard Walker,

District 1 Chairman
