Kingman Senior Softball qualifies for Western Nationals

KINGMAN - The traveling Kingman Senior Softball team won back-to-back tournament championships in April. After claiming the Spring World Men's 50-AA in St. George, Utah, in early April, KSS went on to win the Men's 50-AA Southwest Championships played April 22-24 in Las Vegas.

KSS opened play in Las Vegas April 22 with a 20-10 win over SoCal Rip Tide. After winning by forfeit in the second game that day, KSS posted a 16-15 win over California Lights Out April 23 before beating California Horn 16-13. KSS finished the day defeating Lights Out again, 19-18.

KSS then breezed through the April 24 championship game with a 25-13 win over Horn.

KSS captain and second baseman Bob Posey was named tournament MVP in both St. George and Las Vegas. Teammates Armando Caban, Glenn Jordan, Jeff Pollard and Mark Esquibel joined Posey on the all-tournament team in Las Vegas.

KSS qualified for the Western Nationals in Sacramento in August with its Las Vegas championship.

The St. George title qualified KSS for the Tournament of Champions in Florida early next year.

KSS is 38-16 since last August and is 16-7 this year.

KSS next travels to Prescott for the 25th Annual Tom Tobin tournament May 14-15.
