More counts filed on man linked to missing Kingman woman

KINGMAN - Legal troubles continue to mount for a Canadian man who is a person of interest in the disappearance of a Kingman woman last summer.

The Mohave County Grand Jury on Thursday handed down an indictment in a third case against Robert Lawson Carnochan, 69.

Two weeks ago, the grand jury indicted Carnochan in two cases on a total of six forgery and three identity theft counts. Last week, grand jurors handed down an indictment on six counts of misconduct involving weapons.

Carnochan is a citizen of Canada and has been in the United States unlawfully, according to the Mohave County Sheriff's office. He also allegedly has prior felony convictions, according to Mohave County Deputy Attorney Bob Moon. Both of those statuses prohibit Carnochan from owning firearms.

And while the felony charges against him are serious and numerous, Carnochan has not been charged with any crimes associated with the disappearance of Nancy Hartz, who has not been seen since last June, about a year after she met Carnochan on a dating website. Mohave County Sheriff's deputies arrested him in Yucca April 13, at the home of another woman who might or might not be an alleged victim of Carnochan.

Judge Billy Sipe will arraign him at 8:30 a.m. Thursday.
