Goodwill helping with job fair

KINGMAN - Goodwill and Arizona@Work will be teaming up for an employment fair from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. today at the Mohave County Administration Building, 700 W. Beale St., for an employment fair.

The event is part of Goodwill Industries Week, which continues through Saturday. The tradition began in 1951 as a way to encourage local Goodwill members to educate their communities about the organization's mission to "put people to work."

According to figures cited by Goodwill, there are still 14 job seekers for every 10 open positions, despite overall improvements in the economy.

In 2015, Goodwill connected 1,100 Northern Arizonans with jobs and helped thousands of others with a variety of programs and initiatives. They are ahead of schedule to meet this year's goal of placing 1,350 people in jobs.

Goodwill's program of work includes services specifically designed for individuals with disabilities; assistance to active military/veterans and their families; classes for specific industry sectors, such as apartment maintenance; and providing help to those who have recently been released from jail or prison.
