KINGMAN – A traffic stop Thursday morning on the 3100 block of Stockton Hill Road led to the Kingman Police Department recovering 202 pounds of marijuana.

Charles Stiles Defay, 63, of Point Arena, Calif., faces felony charges of transportation of marijuana for sale and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to KPD.

Detectives from the KPD were conducting a Domestic Highway Enforcement detail supported by a High Intensity Drug Traffic Area grant obtained by the Mohave Area General Narcotics Enforcement Team for drug interdiction and enforcement along Interstate 40 in the Kingman area.

Authorities pulled over a dark-colored Ford four-door rental car, and a KPD canine alerted to the presence of drugs. The marijuana was located in 143 individual bags, KPD reported. The estimated value is about $810,000.

Defay was booked into the Mohave County Jail.
