KINGMAN – Kingman Battalion Chief Chris Angermuller has successfully completed the process that awards him the designation of Chief Fire Officer.
The Commission on Professional Credentialing met Oct. 4 to officially designate Angermuller one of 1,175 CFO’s worldwide. There are two other CFO’s within the KFD – Chiefs Keith Eaton and Jake Rhoades.
“It’s a tremendous honor to get this designation,” Angermuller said.
Angermuller has been a member of KFD since January. Prior to joining the department, he worked for the Overland Park Fire Department in Overland Park, Kan. He’s most proud of getting his master’s degree in public administration from the University of Kansas, extensive work in hazardous materials and day to day duties as training and safety officer with KFD. He has served in fire service for 23 years.
He successfully met all of the CPC’s stringent criteria that included an education assessment, experience, professional development, technical competencies, contributions to the profession, and community involvement.
Angermuller has a rich knowledge of the emergency services profession and has far surpassed critical core competencies for personnel serving in senior fire officer positions. The CFO designation program uses a comprehensive peer review model to evaluate candidates seeking the credential.
“My advice is to those seeking the chief fire officer designation is to continue to work on their education and be involved with their departments and community,” Angermuller said.
