KINGMAN – A man was hospitalized due to a firearm mishap Monday night.

Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence in the 3800 block of East Devlin Avenue at about 7:05 p.m., where they found Jamy Patterson, 67, of Kingman, had accidentally shot himself in his left calf.

Investigations determined that apparently, Patterson was sitting on the couch loading and unloading his .25 caliber pistol when a bullet got stuck in the chamber and the gun went off.

A medical crew responded and transported Patterson to Kingman Regional Medical Center. Alcohol or drugs were not believed to be a factor.

Patterson was still hospitalized as of Tuesday, his condition unknown.
