Lady Vols golf out of state contention

The Lee Williams girls golf team ended thier season with a win Thursday. Despite the victory, the Lady Vols have fallen short of a state tournament spot.

KINGMAN – The quest for a return trip to the Division II Girls Golf State Tournament, where Lee Williams finished 10th a season ago, has ended for the Lady Vols. In the pool of at-large teams, Lee Williams is rated 11th and it needed to reach the top eight.

The Lady Vols end the season with a 56.163 iWanamaker.com rating. Vail Cienega is currently No. 8 with a 50.181 rating.

Sophomore Paige Lucero will represent Lee Williams in the individual state tournament. The top 21 golfers not on a qualifying team are also invited. Lucero is currently No. 11 in the that group.

Lucero was medalist in the season-ending match that Lee Williams won at the London Bridge Golf Club in Lake Havasu City Thursday. Lucero won by four strokes with a 7-over par 43.

Lee Williams captured the three-team match with a 195. The Lady Vols beat Havasu (213) by 18 strokes and Yuma Cibola (226) by 31.

Kaylee Moore shot a 48 for Lee Williams. Kadence Sterling and Sarah White each shot 52, and Audra Coffman had a non-team score of 63. Lucero takes part in the D-II state tournament Oct. 31 and Nov. 1.
