Letter: Letter illustrates why we’re in trouble

I would like to thank Bob Moore for giving us insight with his Oct. 10 letter to the editor into how certain individuals really feel about Christian conservatives. First, I will not defend Trump or Clinton as it’s obvious they both have serious integrity and character shortcomings. In my opinion, neither should even be considered for the highest office in the land. That, however, is not the issue.

The problem is in Bob Moore’s mindset and attitude towards those who are not like him and don’t agree with him. When I read Bob Moore’s rant it made me realize why America is in trouble. He starts with the term, “Christian Taliban.” Then he denigrates millions of Americans who happen to be believers by calling us pathetic, deplorable, sad, bigots, misogynists, homophobes, and losers who take pride in being ignorant. He calls people like him, “people who truly love their nation” essentially saying, Christians don’t love America.

As we all know, it’s very easy to call people names and ridicule their beliefs and opinions. Anyone can do it. From reading his “opinion,” I can tell you who the real bigot seems to be. It takes a little thought and consideration to discuss issues intelligently and respectfully with those we do not agree with.

Hopefully people writing to the editor and engaging in public discourse will be mature and actually have something constructive to say.

From a Christian conservative who loves America.
