Letter: Pain management starts too strong, too fast

It seems that doctors and drug companies are still linked at the hip. It seems strange to me that in the last few months several people I know have gone to their doctors for pain management. They went to different doctors and were started out on two drugs – flexeril and tramadol – without being started on something that was not addictive. Our doctors and drug companies want to keep their patients addicted and coming back for more. It’s so sad

There is a need for strong medicine, but it should not be a starting point in pain management.
