KINGMAN – The Kingman Academy golf team finished its season this week with two road matches.
The Academy finished second Monday with a 195 at Mojave Resort Golf Club and then took third Tuesday with a 205 at the Elephant Rock Golf Course in Williams.
“It is always great to finish the season in the beautiful weather in Williams especially after the high heat the day before,” Kingman Academy golf coach BJ Maticic said. “… From the beginning of the season, these kids have improved so much. Wish we had a few more weeks left in the season. I know they would keep improving. I’m already looking forward to next year. With no seniors this year, everyone will be back next year.”
Jacob Heppler led Kingman Academy Monday with a 45 for fifth place, followed by Jake Scott in seventh with a 47 and Lance Stutzman in eighth with a 49.
“It was the hottest match we have had this season,” Maticic said. “The heat took a little out of them. They played well, but not to what they had been playing of late.”
Scott led the Academy Tuesday with a 42 for fifth place, while Heppler was ninth with a 47 and Shelby Swanty finished 15th with a 52.
