KINGMAN – The Lee Williams girls track and field team sent a number of athletes to the AIA Division III State Championship last weekend and Sadie Snay led the Lady Vols with a seventh-place finish in the discus.

Snay threw 95-feet, 8-inches to account for the lone points for the Lady Vols, as they finished in a tie for 35th. Snay also took 17th in the shot put with a throw of 30-feet, 8.25-inches.

In the high jump, Madison Arave cleared 4-feet, 8-inches to tie for 13th, while Sienna Cobanovich tied for 16th with a jump of 4-feet, 8-inches.

The group of Alexis Hecker, Meah Wilson, Alize Hecker, and Darleen Bland were seeded No. 18 in the 4x400-meter relay entering the state tournament and improved with a 14th-place finish.

“They ran a season-best time of 4:19.79,” Lee Williams track and field coach Joan Abraham said. “Almost four seconds faster than their previous best time.”

The 4x100 relay team of Cobanovich, Bland, Hecker and Lilly Rapp also improved their No. 20-seed with a 17th-place finish.

Rapp also competed in the 100-meter hurdles and took 25th at 17.87.

“Lilly Rapp had done so well all season,” Abraham said. “But she hurt her heel on a hurdle at the Knights of Columbus meet and never fully recovered.”
