KINGMAN – While a group of Kingman High School students weren’t the only ones honored at the annual Senior Awards ceremony Wednesday night, the four Lady Bulldogs made up a special group of seven area students honored with the John Bathauer Memorial Scholarship.

“It is a huge family venture,” Anne Bathauer said. “We want to be able to give back to the kids.”

Bathauer was in attendance at KHS to present awards to Zoe Jenkins, Dawn Orcutt, Ashton Grigg and Katrina Sears, while Bathauer’s sons Mike and Matt, were at Lee Williams to present scholarships to the three other honorees.

Each student received $1,000, which is raised at the John Bathauer Memorial Softball Tournament. This year’s tourney is July 22-23.

“It’s the community that supports the softball tournament and supports these kids and the scholarships,” Anne Bathauer said. “Our goal is to incorporate community and education. That’s what our goal has always been.”
