KINGMAN – Bring those capes, lace up those running shoes and join other superheroes or villains to the third annual Superhero 5K run/Kids Dash at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Kingman Regional Medical Center Hualapai Mountain Campus, 3801 Santa Rosa Dr.
The superhero 5k run course will go through the desert roads and the Kids Dash will take place on a blacktop.
Participants are encouraged to dress up as their favorite superhero or villain, but it is optional.
Awards will be given to the top male and female for overall time, top male and female over 40, top three in each age division and for best superhero costume.
“Everyone dresses up for the event,” Aaron Demke, director for the Mohave County Legal Advocate Office said in the press release. “Even Kingman Regional Medical Center CEO Brian Turney was seen running in a Captain America shirt.”
Registration fees the day of the event are $35, using cash or check only. For kids participating in the Kids Dash, the fee is $10. For those already registered, early packet pickup will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at the KRMC Hualapai Mountain campus lobby.
All proceeds will go to benefit CASA Council of Mohave County. The council is a “nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives and self-esteem of Mohave County foster children through advocacy and fulfillment of their unmet needs,” according to its website, www.casasupport.org. Sponsors for the event include KRMC, Pizza Hut, and Atia and Ahmad S. Khan.
