Happy New Year from the U.S. Coast Guard

Happy New Year from the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Kingman Arizona. We are one of five USCG Aux units in Mohave County (Flotilla 9-8) serving Lake Mead, Lake Mohave, Lake Havasu and the Lower Colorado River. We have concluded our officer elections and staff officer appointments for 2018. Paul De Nubilo Sr. has been elected as flotilla commander and Mary Napier was elected as flotilla vice commander. Our Flotilla Staff Officer appointments are Paul De Nubilo Sr. for program visitor and communications services. Mary Napier has been appointed to communications (operations), finance officer, information services, secretary/records and m,terials. Dee Lindsey was appointed to human resources and member training. Paul De Nubilo Jr. was appointed to public affairs, operations officer, and vessel examinations.

Our plan for 2018 is to increase our exposure in Kingman and safety operations on our waterways. We want the boating community in Kingman to know we exist, what we do, and to recruit more members. We will continue to be active in our local parades, and we will be sponsoring boater safety events in Kingman. We have also been invited to join other local agencies in their public safety events. We have two boat crewmen, one communications operator and a U.S. Coast Guard approved private vessel in our flotilla. Currently we need to borrow a coxswain to operate on the water, but with a coxswain in training we should have a self-contained operations package completed by summer. We are looking forward to being on the water more often this year to assist our fellow boaters, to conduct training, and enjoy fellowship trips with the families too.

This is going to be a fun year for our flotilla. We have two boaters ready to join this year and we are increasing our family events, so our spouses and kids can join us on the water. We are an all-volunteer organization, 100 percent committed to recreation boater safety and education. We use our own USCG approved boats with USCG reimbursement on our food and fuel. We do not perform ANY law enforcement or military functions, but our training in boater safety, assistance, first-aid, and education is fantastic. If you would like to join in our fun and be a part of an outstanding organization to help assist and educate fellow boaters, call Paul De Nubilo Jr. at 928-716-3840.
