PHOENIX – The Arizona Department of Transportation has selected its 15 finalists for the Safety Message contest. Winning messages will be displayed on overhead highway signs all over the state of Arizona.

According to the press release, entries included clever, serious, somber and cheeky submissions. Some of the entries include, “Commuting isn’t a competitive sport, relax” and “Camping in the left lane attracts bears.”

“It’s great to see so much engagement from the public,” John Halikowski, ADOT director said in the press release.

The safety messages on the overhead signs are one way to help change driving behavior, according to the press release.

People can vote for their favorite entries online through March 21. The two messages with the most votes win the contest. People can vote at www.azdot.gov/signcontest.
