Letter | Re: Trumpian values

John Micek's June 18 opinion column seems intended to make us second class citizens to Central American illegal aliens. They already get in-state tuition in most states in the USA. My daughter, who is a U.S. Citizen, would have to pay out-of-state tuition.

Climate, spectacular scenery and miles of open water attract people to Lake Mead, a recreational magnet that is unmatched in the desert Southwest. Temple Bar and other marinas that serve tourists and residents alike provide jobs, bring revenue to the region, and are an important part of the state’s economic engine.

I’m looking forward to another professionally orchestrated fireworks display at our municipal recreation center this Independence Day, but nothing can quite match my childhood memories of backyard fireworks extravaganzas with barely any adult supervision.

Letter | Tired of manufactured crises

I, for one, have grown weary of left wing manufactured crises. With the economy roaring, Mueller investigation a nothing burger, the left needed a distraction. Enter "children in cages" by the evil right. Frankly, their pro-abortion stand on innocent babies is worse, but for another day.

Column | We need to embrace the wit and wisdom of Will Rogers

Consider. Since 2016, some 110,000 children have entered the U.S. illegally and been released, along with 200,000 Central American families caught sneaking across the border.

Column | Trumpian values on display both here and abroad

Even as he cozied up to an evil dictator who routinely murders, starves and imprisons his own people, President Donald Trump’s White House made its own brutal tweak to America’s immigration policy.

Column | The case for continuing the International Space Station

Since the dawn of creation, mankind has been driven by the urge to explore the world around him. The quest for knowledge consumes us. We have to know if we are alone in the universe or if life exists someone beyond the big blue marble we call home.

Letter | For their help

I want to say thank you to Soapy’s Too Laundromat on Andy Devine Avenue. The two laundry attendants were very helpful. They rolled the laundry cart to my car, and loaded my laundry into my car. A big thank you, very much appreciated.
