Animal shelter’s protocol doesn’t always require pets to be scanned

KINGMAN – Twice within three months, Bunnie Weaver’s cat, Spot, escaped from her yard and wound up at the Mohave County Animal Shelter. Both times, he was put up for adoption, Weaver said, without anyone trying to contact her even though Spot has a microchip for identification.
