There was a heavy breeze, but the otherwise shorts and T-shirt weather allowed local media and some VIPs a cruise above Kingman at 1,000 feet Thursday. .The local Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 765 has worked long and hard with Kingman City Council and the Kingman Airport Authority to bring “Aluminum Overcast,” a B-17 World War II bomber to town. .The airplane soared over Kingman for about half an hour giving the group, which included Mayor Monica Gates, former B-17 pilot Elmer Eckstrom, KFLG morning show host Tracy Thompson, Ignite Brand Marketing President Liza Noland and members of the EAA and KAA, a glimpse of their livelihoods from the windows of the classic bomber. .The “Aluminum Overcast” was built in 1945 toward the end of World War II and never saw combat, but has since done crop dusting and aerial photography. Rides and tours will be available through 5 p.m. Saturday. .
