Elks plan Father's Day picnic, Flag Day celebration for Saturday

The public is invited to take part in the Annual Father's Day Picnic and Flag Day Celebration set for Saturday at Metcalfe Park in downtown Kingman, sponsored by Kingman Elks Lodge No.


Activities begin at about 11 a.m.

with the annual barbecue, which will feature chicken, beef and all the trimmings.

Cost is $10 per person or a maximum of $25 per family, with beverages included.

The Elks Flag Day Ceremony will be held Sunday at 2 p.m., when a history of the American flag and a flag dedication will be held.

According Bob Gilfoil, the exalted ruler of the Kingman Elks Lodge, if anyone in the community has an old American flag that needs to be destroyed, the flag should be brought to the ceremony and the Elks will dispose of it in the proper manner.

Games with prizes are also planned for the youngsters throughout the day.

Tickets are available at the Elks Lodge or at the park on Saturday.
