KINGMAN A rollover accident Monday night resulted in the death of a girl and injuries to four other people in the vehicle.

About 8:30 p.m., four units and eight personnel from the Kingman Fire Department responded to milepost 49 on Interstate 40, where an eastbound vehicle had rolled over, Capt. Bob Taylor said.

The girl was pronounced dead at the scene.

Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to extricate the female driver, who sustained serious injuries along with a female passenger. A male adult and male child had moderate injuries. All four were taken to Kingman Regional Medical Center.

No further information was available.

DOLAN SPRINGS A Showtime tour bus was gutted by fire Monday, but none of its passengers was injured.

About 4 p.m., two units and three personnel from the Lake Mohave Ranchos Fire Department responded to milepost 19 on Pierce Ferry Road, Chief Dave Estenson said. An engine and four personnel from the Grapevine Mesa Fire Department in Meadview also answered the call.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the bus fully involved in flames. Estenson said 25-30 people were loading aboard another Showtime bus to continue their trip from the Grand Canyon to Las Vegas.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Preliminary indications are it began as the result of a fuel cap left off following a diesel refueling operation, Estenson said.

Mohave County Sheriff's deputies assisted in traffic control at the scene, MCSO spokeswoman Trish Carter said.

GOLDEN VALLEY A 33-year-old Golden Valley man suffered serious injuries Monday night when his Jeep Cherokee rolled over into a ditch off Shinarump Drive.

About 7:02 p.m., two units and five personnel from the Golden Valley Fire Department responded to the scene about one mile north of Oatman Road, Capt. Rudy Barboa said.

The male driver, who was alone in the Jeep, was ejected in the accident. He was taken to Kingman Regional Medical Center with head injuries before being flown by fixed-wing aircraft to University Medical Center in Las Vegas, Barboa said.

There was no word this morning on his condition.

Mohave County Sheriff's deputies are investigating the accident, which may have been alcohol-related, spokeswoman Trish Carter said.

KINGMAN Mohave County Sheriff's deputies arrested Michael Larry Ward Jr., 36, of Kingman on Thursday on a felony fugitive-from-justice warrant issued in Riverside County, Calif.

Deputies received information from the California Department of Corrections in reference to a subject wanted for parole violation and living in Mohave County, a news release from the MCSO stated.

Ward, the subject identified in the warrant, allegedly failed to report to the sex offender registry about his out-of-state move, putting him in violation of his parole.

About 12:57 p.m., deputies contacted Ward in the 3600 block of Andy Devine Avenue. He was taken into custody and booked into Mohave County Jail.

KINGMAN Mohave County Sheriff's deputies arrested John Keith Melton, 31, of Kingman on Thursday night on felony charges of possession of dangerous drugs, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, plus a misdemeanor warrant.

About 9:24 p.m., deputies contacted Melton as he walked near the intersection of Norrie Drive and Neal Avenue, a news release from the MCSO stated.

A records check on Melton revealed a failure-to-pay-fines warrant from Kingman Justice Court that stemmed from an original charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

A search of Melton allegedly uncovered a wooden box containing marijuana, syringe and plastic case containing crystals that later tested positive for methamphetamine.
