CHLORIDE – Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies arrested William Arthur Cook, 73, of Chloride on Saturday on a felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor failure to appear warrant issued by Kingman Justice Court.
Deputies responded to a weapons offense call in the 4900 block of Tennessee Avenue, a news release from the MCSO stated.
The 61-year-old male victim stated a subject, later identified as Cook, came into his store and was about to pay for some items when a candy bar fell out of his shirt. The victim told Cook to leave.
The victim approached Cook as he started to leave. Cook allegedly pushed the victim against a wall, pulled a handgun and pointed it at him.
Cook left the scene in a white Dodge pickup. Deputies later located the truck and stopped it at Fourth Street and Schuykill Avenue. The victim identified Cook and the vehicle. Cook was taken into custody and deputies confiscated the handgun and groceries.
A records check on Cook turned up the warrant that stemmed from an original charge of possession of an open liquor container in a vehicle.
