GOLDEN VALLEY – A family pet saved the life of a woman early Thursday morning when fire broke out in her residence.
About 12:52 a.m., six units and nine personnel from the Golden Valley Fire Department responded to the 4900 block of Teddy Roosevelt Road, firefighter Dan Dean said.
“Upon arrival, we found a mobile home 50-60 percent involved in flames,” Dean said. “A dog grabbed the sleeping woman occupant by an arm, shook her awake and she was able to make it out safely.”
Fire under the trailer had weakened the floor, so firefighters mounted an external attack on flames and did not enter the dwelling, Dean said.
Firefighters determined the blaze began in an unoccupied bedroom in the southeast corner of the home. An investigation in progress will pinpoint the cause. No firefighters were injured. They remained on scene for about eight hours.
The residence was about 70-percent destroyed and Dean estimated the damage at $150,000.
KINGMAN – Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Daniel Lee Young, 38, of Kingman early Wednesday on a felony charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor charges of trespassing and failing to comply with a court order, and six misdemeanor warrants.
About 2:24 a.m., deputies responded to a disturbance in the 3800 block of Northfield Avenue, a news release from the MCSO stated. A dispatcher informed deputies the victim’s husband, identified as Young, broke into her home and then left on foot. The victim has a restraining order in effect against Young. Upon arrival, deputies located a male subject crouching down in an alley behind the residence. They recognized him as Young from previous contacts and took him into custody.
A search of Young allegedly produced a plastic wrapper inside a glass tube containing a white crystal substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
Deputies contacted the 35-year-old female victim, who alleged Young had knocked on her door and then forced his way into the home.
Young was booked into Mohave County Jail.
