This letter is in reply to that of Liam Rooney published in the Kingman Daily Miner. Allow me to spell this out clearly, as obviously, his vision is clouded by ignorance. Please note the use of the word "ignorance" rather than "stupidity," because there is a difference. Ignorance is lack of knowledge or education, or recognition of truth, whereas stupidity is the rejection of the truth once it is known. I am assuming that this gentleman's vituperative spiel stems from ignorance.
I was raised to believe that all men are created equal. I care not whether your skin is white, black, yellow, red, brown or orange with purple polka-dots. So I fail to meet the qualifications for a racist. As part of the Mohave County Minutemen, I deeply resent them being labeled as racist. Nothing is further from the truth.
Mr. Rooney, have you so soon forgotten the death and destruction, the abomination wreaked on our unprepared country on 9/11? This atrocity was committed by illegal aliens crossing our borders to the south. I don't care what color their skin was. They could have entered from the north, but they chose our southern border. Make no mistake, all who enter our country illegally are law-breakers.
Are the Minutemen racist because they want to protect our nation? I think not. I challenge you, Mr. Rooney, and any other person with your mindset, to attend just one meeting of the Minutemen. Ignorance and apathy can destroy our society as we know it. It is already happening.
