MEADVIEW - Mohave County Sheriff's deputies arrested Joseph Niesl, 33, of Meadview on Wednesday night on a felony charge of depositing explosives and two misdemeanor contempt of court warrants issued by Kingman Justice Court.
About 8:30 a.m., deputies went to the Meadview Fire Department in the 30200 block of Stillwater Drive, MCSO spokeswoman Trish Carter said. A woman was driving her children to school when they found a suspicious object in the vehicle. The woman drove to the Meadview Fire Department, which contacted the MCSO.
An explosives K-9 unit from the MCSO and bomb squads from the Kingman and Bullhead City Police departments responded to the scene. "It was an IED (improvised explosive device) and our bomb technician and one from Bullhead used a disruptor to detonate it as a precaution," Sgt. Rusty Cooper of the KPD said. "It was not put together too well, but it did have the potential to detonate."
Nobody was injured. Public access to the Meadview Fire Department and area around it was closed off during the five-hour operation, Carter said.
Niesl is the husband of the woman and father of the children who found the IED. Investigation led to him as the suspect and attempts to contact him continued until he was located about 10 p.m. at a residence in the 1000 block of Overton Drive.
He was taken into custody and a records check was run that found the two warrants.
Niesl was booked into Mohave County Jail.
KINGMAN - Kingman Police arrested Jack Leroy Anderson II, 38, of Kingman on Saturday on a felony charge of aggravated assault.
Officers were called to a restaurant in the 700 block of Beale Street regarding an alleged assault by an adult male on a juvenile, a news release from the KPD stated.
Investigation determined Anderson had allegedly "body slammed" a 14-year-old male when a group of youths became loud and refused to move. The victim was not seriously injured.
Anderson was booked into Mohave County Jail.
KINGMAN - Kingman Police arrested Crystal Starr Davis, 21, of Kingman on Sunday on a felony failure to appear warrant issued by Mohave County Superior Court.
An officer stopped to conduct a welfare check on a female walking in the area of Beverly Avenue and Bank Street, a news release from the KPD stated. A records check on the woman, identified as Davis, turned up the warrant that stemmed from original charges of identity theft, fraud and forgery. Davis was booked into Mohave County Jail.
KINGMAN - Kingman Police arrested Mark Anthony Lindsey, 26, of Kingman on Sunday on felony charges of second-degree burglary, aggravated assault on a police officer and four misdemeanor warrants.
Officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a residence in the 1100 block of Eastern Avenue, a news release from the KPD stated.
The owner arrived home and allegedly found Lindsey inside the garage trying to steal items. Lindsey fled on foot with the homeowner following him.
Officers joined in a foot pursuit of Lindsey, who eventually was captured. As he was being placed in a patrol car, Lindsey allegedly spit on an officer and the interior of the car. He became further combative and allegedly kicked an officer before being restrained.
Lindsey was booked into Mohave County Jail. A records check turned up the multiple warrants, all out of Kingman Municipal Court.
KINGMAN - Mohave County Sheriff's deputies arrested Sharon Kae Lindley, 52, of Kingman on Saturday night on felony charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
About 5:30 p.m., deputies contacted a 59-year-old male victim in the area of milepost 8 on Stockton Hill Road, a news release from the MCSO stated.
The victim reported that while at a residence in the 9100 block of Hillview Drive, Lindley argued about drugs and made threatening statements.
Deputies and the victim went to the residence and contacted Lindley, who denied making threats. Consent was given for a search of the residence, which allegedly turned up a pipe with marijuana residue and a plastic bag containing marijuana. Lindley was taken into custody. A records check on her revealed a misdemeanor failure to comply warrant out of Kingman Justice Court.
She was booked into Mohave County Jail.
GOLDEN VALLEY - Mohave County Sheriff's deputies arrested David Ray Rhodes, 30, of Golden Valley on Sunday on a felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon/domestic violence.
Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance in the 3900 block of Colorado Road, a news release from the MCSO stated.
The 50-year-old female victim alleged her daughter's boyfriend pulled a knife on her. The victim began backing away and Rhodes walked toward her allegedly with the knife. The victim further stated Rhodes and her daughter left in a maroon GMC Blazer. Deputies located Rhodes a short time later in the 3700 block of Bonita Road.
After questioning, he was booked into Mohave County Jail.
KINGMAN - Mohave County Sheriff's deputies arrested Jason J. Snell, 22, of Lake Havasu City on Monday on a felony failure to appear warrant issued by Mohave County Superior Court. Snell came into the MCSO headquarters to turn himself in, a news release stated. Deputies confirmed the warrant and then booked Snell into Mohave County Jail.
KINGMAN - Mohave County Sheriff's deputies arrested Kasey Lee Hassell, 22, of Kingman on Monday on a felony charge of possession of drug paraphernalia and a felony fraud warrant issued by Kingman Justice Court.
Deputies contacted Hassell during a traffic stop in the 3500 block of Bryce Road, a news release from the MCSO stated. A records check turned up the warrant and Hassell was taken into custody. A search of Hassell allegedly uncovered a needle in a front pocket. Hassell was booked into Mohave County Jail.
GOLDEN VALLEY - Mohave County Sheriff's deputies arrested Martin Eric Nelson Sr., 43, of Golden Valley on Sunday night on a felony failure to appear warrant issued by Mohave County Superior Court. About 8:02 p.m., deputies were conducting an investigation when they contacted Nelson at a residence in the 3700 block of Mobile Road, a news release from the MCSO stated.
A records check turned up the felony warrant that stemmed from an original charge of aggravated DUI, plus a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant out of Kingman Justice Court.
Nelson was booked into Mohave County Jail.
DOLAN SPRINGS - A Lake Havasu City man involved in an accident Monday night was found walking toward Kingman and covered with blood Tuesday morning.
About 7:10 a.m., an ambulance and two personnel from the Lake Mohave Ranchos Fire Department contacted the man walking along Stockton Hill Road between mileposts 35 and 36, Chief Dave Estenson said. "Somebody called and reported a man with blood on him," Estenson said.
Ambulance personnel treated the man and drove him to Kingman Regional Medical Center. He later was airlifted with possible head trauma to Sunrise Medical Center in Las Vegas, said Mohave County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Trish Carter. Carter identified the victim as John Gresham, but did not know his age.
Investigation determined he was driving a 1995 Ford Escort when he struck a cow on the road near milepost 40 sometime after 11:45 p.m. Monday. He was disoriented after the accident, making it impossible to determine the precise time of the accident that left the cow dead.
