KINGMAN - A shed was moderately damaged by fire Sunday night. About 10:30 p.m., four units and 13 personnel from the Hualapai Valley Fire Department responded to the 2700 block of Packard Avenue, Battalion Chief Brian Davenport said. Firefighters quickly extinguished a fire on the back wall of the shed. The blaze is deemed suspicious and is under investigation. No injuries were reported.


KINGMAN - According to the Kingman Fire Department, there was a single-vehicle accident at the intersection of Northern and Stockton Hill Road at 2 a.m. Saturday. The vehicle collided with a telephone pole. KPD was called to extract the two people in the vehicle, but they were able to get out on their own. The driver and passenger in the vehicle refused medical treatment.


KINGMAN - Mohave County Sheriff's deputies arrested Richie Mathias Bitz, 47, of Kingman on April 6 on a felony fugitive from justice warrant out of Crow Wing County, Minn. The original charge on the warrant was fraud. About 5:05 p.m., deputies contacted Bitz at a residence in the 8400 block of Bradley Avenue, took him into custody and booked him into Mohave County Jail.


KINGMAN - Officers with the Mohave Area General Narcotics Enforcement Team assisted the Arizona Department of Public Safety on Thursday night in arresting Douglas Dean Starr, 56, of Spring Valley, Calif., on felony charges of possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sale, possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

About 10:30 p.m., MAGNET detectives were contacted by DPS officers regarding a traffic stop they'd made at Interstate 40 and Andy Devine Avenue, a news release from the Mohave County Sheriff's Office stated.

After being informed marijuana was found in the vehicle, MAGNET detectives responded to the scene. A search of two suitcases in the trunk allegedly turned up about 150 pounds of marijuana. Methamphetamine also allegedly was found.
