County residents invited to Grand Canyon West
KINGMAN - Grand Canyon West is inviting all Mohave County residents to enjoy a free day at the spectacular resort community.
"On Saturday, Grand Canyon West Manager Robert Bravo is inviting Mohave County residents to visit the site of our soon-to-be-open Glass Bridge Skywalk on the Canyon," said Allison Raskansky, Grand Canyon West director of Marketing.
"Grand Canyon West is one of the most beautiful areas of our county," Chairman of the Board of Supervisors Pete Byers said. "I hope to be there that day. I know the Hualapai Tribe. They are wonderful people who have done a magnificent job in building this resort destination, and I'm pleased that they are sponsoring a free day of food and entertainment for Mohave County residents."
Opening ceremonies for the day begin at 10 a.m. Food and entertainment are all part of the day. There will also be Native American performers. The event will last until 2 p.m.
"We are basically offering our Spirit package, which is a $50 value, free to Mohave County residents to meet them and introduce them to this beautiful area," she said. "The food, entertainment, shuttle, tours, everything will be available. Residents need only show identification that they live in Mohave County when they enter at the terminal."
NASA astronauts will be present when the skywalk opens to the public on March 28. During and after that opening, Mohave County residents will receive a 25-percent discount.
