Spear fitting mouthpiece for the city
It seems fitting that the City Council's mouthpiece at the recent Kingman Crossing forum was Tom Spear. Spear has the dubious distinction of being the only sitting councilman to sue Kingman, collect money and have the arrogance to purport to represent the interests of Kingman and its citizens.
I suppose our Council arrived at a "consensus" in choosing Spear, but in light of the Council's decisions the last few months, this doesn't surprise me.
At the forum, Spear opined about the limited commercial potential of the Rattlesnake Interchange while touting the wonderful commercial possibilities of Kingman Crossing. These two interchange locations are about a mile apart on Interstate 40, so Tom must have "confidential/ personal" e-mails from S&Y explaining the difference in these sites. Spear was also critical of the earlier offer to buy and build Kingman Crossing, explained by Dave Hollingsworth, because it didn't reap enough benefit to our city.
I question Spear's concern, opinion and sincerity, given his track record. But maybe I'm wrong. Maybe Spear and the rest of our Council should proceed with partnering up with the Wolfswinkel family and develop Kingman Crossing.
Paul Beecher could write the contract for the city. I'm sure he'll get us a deal we'll never forget!
