Marie E. Nejedlo Arthur died early Tuesday, May 22, 2007, at the Gardens Care Center in Kingman. She was 91 years old at the time of her passing.
Marie was born in Green Bay, Wis., April 14, 1916, and after graduating from high school there in 1934, she remained in the area and was employed by National T as a punch-key operator.
Following a fairytale romance, on Feb. 4, 1950, she married Wilbur Arthur of Kingman and moved west with him to make their home. Their "fairy godparents" were Pastor Don and Irene Lanthrop of St. John's United Methodist Church.
Marie enjoyed all aspects of homemaking and was an active supporter of Wilbur in his business, Arthur's Sales and Service, in downtown Kingman. She was a member of Kingman, Chapter 17, Order of the Eastern Star.
The Arthurs lived in Kingman until 1990, at which time they sold their business and moved to Phoenix. Just recently, they returned to take up residence at the Gardens in Kingman.
Marie leaves behind her beloved husband, Wilbur, as well as many friends and Eastern Star affiliates across the state of Arizona.
Memorial services are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 29, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home. Eastern Star graveside ceremonies will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
Contributions may be made in Marie's memory to The Shriners' Hospital Los Angeles, 3160 Geneva St., Los Angeles, CA 90020.
