AmVets Post 3 show patriotic colors at inaugural tractor show
DOLAN SPRINGS - The Dolan Springs Am Vets Post 3 participated in the Dolan Springs VFW Loyalty Day parade on May 5 and hosted their first-ever antique tractor show on the same day.
Carrying the banner in the parade were Marcy Nissel, Alicia DeGuilio and Katie DeGuilio. Flag bearers were Henderson, US Flag; Bill Allen, Arizona flag; and Jill Devine, the Am Vets Auxiliary flag.
Matthew Monzillo, Charlie Duncan, Richard Starker and Michelle Davis carried feather flags, followed by Nissel in her little tractor and Bill and Jackie Thompson in their truck, with AM Vets Post 3 Auxiliary President Jill Devvine riding in the back, proudly holding the Post 3 flag.
There were nine entries older than 1960 in the first-ever Am Vets tractor show. Trophies went to:
Pre-1959 - Tex Kraft, first place, sponsored by the Land Office; Don Pike, second place, sponsored by Sunflower Concrete and Construction; Charles Van Den Hende, third place, sponsored by Ace/Action Bulders Supply.
1960 and later - Michelle Nissel, first place, sponsored by Dolan Sprigs RV Park; Jerry Kraft, second place, sponsored by Adventure Concierge Travel Service and Bump on the Hill; Leo Gallegos, third place, sponsored by Mount Tipton Water Co.
Awards - Oldest tractor, David Zediker, sponsored by Mohave Rancho Lumber; best modified, Lewis Henderson, sponsored by Wishing Well Saloon and Restaurant; and most unusual, Michele Nissel, sponsored by the Tax Place of Arizona.
Other sponsors were Mystic Whispers Florist and Older 66 Productions Inc.
On April 26, Am Vets Post 3 members Gil Devine, Jill Devine, Henderson, Rupert, Truesdale, Robert Silver, Bill Thompson and Jackie Thompson also assisted the Lake Mohave Ranchos Fire Department in Dolan Springs in feeding area seniors and other disadvantaged residents.
Coming up on June 16, the Am Vets will host a booth at the Fresh Tomatoes Car Show in Bond Street in Kingman.
And the Am Vets have accepted the request to be the Honor Guard at Ole Miners Day on June 30.
