Nolan LeRex Davis

Nolan LeRex Davis passed away on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007, in Phoenix. He was born in Kingman on July 22, 1938, to Merlin and Verle Davis.

Nolan graduated from Mohave County Union High School in 1956, began attending the University of Arizona in 1956 and, in 1959, transferred to Arizona State College in Flagstaff.

Prior to completing his final year of college, Nolan returned home to manage the family business upon the death of his father. He continued at Davis Heating and Cooling for the next 15 years.

In 1962, Nolan married his sweetheart, Sharon Max Pattillo. Together they raised their son, Sean. Nolan left the family business in 1975 to enter the insurance profession, which, with Sharon at his side, led to ownership of the Davis Agency Insurance Company. Nolan sold his company to The Mahoney Group, and he continued to work with them until his retirement on April 1, 2007.

As a lifelong resident of Kingman, Nolan was involved throughout the community in many ways. He served as a volunteer firefighter with the Kingman Fire Department, retiring after 25 years of service. He was a past exalted ruler and 48-year member of the Kingman Elks Lodge, remaining active with his Elks family until his death. He was a loyal and active 47-year member of Kingman Rotary Club, served in 1975 as president and was always ready to lead the group in song. He also served on numerous city and county commissions.

Nolan loved the outdoors, especially hunting, camping and enjoying his special "shack in the Mountains" with family and friends.

He also loved sports of all kinds, particularly the U of A teams.

But, more than anything, Nolan loved people.

He is survived by his son, Sean, daughter-in-law, Britta, and grandson, Finn of Tucson; his sister, Sherrine Petry with husband Russ and their son Devin; his brother, Wayne Davis with wife Debbie and their daughter Amber Scott with husband Jason and their children Kaileigh and Kabyn; nephew Douglas Bradley with wife Patty and their children Tiffany Bradley and Chip Bradley with his wife Kelly and son Cade; niece Debbie Bradley with her daughter Haley; and his loving extended family.

Preceding Nolan in death were his parents, Merlin and Verle; his father- and mother-in-law, Dene and Lillian Pattillo; his beloved wife, Sharon; his sister, Sherrill Bradley; and his brother-in-law, Lawson Bradley.

The family invites you to join them between 1 and 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 29, at the Kingman Elks Lodge for a celebration of Nolan's life. The Kingman Fire Department will perform an Honor Guard service at 2 p.m. with a tribute by the Elks Lodge to follow.

Memorial donations may be made to Kingman Firefighters Association, 412 E. Oak St., Kingman, AZ 86401; to Mohave Museum at 400 W. Beale St., Kingman, AZ 86401; or to any charity of choice.
