Chili chefs invade Valle Vista Sunday
We will find out who the best male chili cooks are in Valle Vista on Sunday when the Activities Committee holds its Annual Men's Chili Cook-off.
After the judging the chili will be offered to the public for a donation of $4 per person. The Activities Committee will provide the fixings, corn bread and cupcakes to accompany the chili and drinks may be purchased at the bar.
The monthly meeting of the Valle Vista Board of Directors will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the Clubhouse.
Saturday night darts will be starting up again now that the dart board is back in the bar. Anyone interested in playing just needs to show up before 7 p.m. Teams are picked by random draw and it is a fun evening for everyone.
Tournament season will be starting soon and the first of the season will be the 1st Annual Kingman Air and Auto Show Tournament on April 26. The format will be a four-player scramble, pick your own team. Kingman Aid to Abused People will hold its tournament on May 3. The format will also be a four-player scramble, pick your own team. The Men's Club had 24 members play to a format of two-man scramble the past week. The winners were: 1st place - Nick Fix and Pete Schmitt with a net 41; 2nd place - Dean Maryott and Len Druian with a net 52, and 3rd place - Elbert Gilpin and Norm Hilts with a net 52.6. Closest to the pin went to Butch Lewis on 2, Bill McIntosh on 7, Stan Mirovaliev on 11 and George Chivas on 16.
On April 7, the Valle Vista Ladies Club hosted the Colorado River Inter City Tournament, which consists of teams from eight different golf courses. The team of Norma Birdsell, Mickey Lewis, Gladys Young and Virginia Weggland from Valle Vista won low net and the team for Cerbat Cliffs won low gross. Congratulations ladies.
This past Thursday the Ladies Club played for Player of the Month. Player of the Month and 1st place went to Shirley Tille with a 69. Gladys Young won 2nd with 75 and Julie Brackett took 3rd with a 77. Shirley Tilley and Gladys Young tied for low putts with 31.
