KINGMAN - Crews from the Northern Arizona Consolidated Fire District No. 1 responded to a house fire July 3 in the 3500 block of Shaffer. No injuries were reported. The district received a 911 call from the homeowner around 6 p.m. When crews arrived, the house had heavy smoke coming from the roof vents. Firefighters attacked the fire simultaneously from inside the house and from the roof vents on the outside. Crews were able to contain the fire to two bathrooms and a portion of the attic. It took approximately 20 minutes for firefighters to get the fire under control. One battalion chief, five engine companies, one water tender, a paramedic squad and 17 personnel responded to the fire.
KINGMAN - Mohave County Sheriff's deputies arrested Christopher Douglas Pearl, 30, of Kingman Saturday evening for DUI, DUI with a blood alcohol concentration over .08 and extreme DUI with a blood alcohol concentration over .15. At approximately 8:15 p.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 3000 block of Northern Avenue and contacted Pearl, the driver. Deputies smelled an odor of alcohol on Pearl. During conversations with Pearl, he allegedly admitted he'd been drinking about three hours earlier. Following the field sobriety tests, Pearl was taken into custody and transported to the Mohave County Jail where an analysis revealed his blood alcohol concentration to be .284. He was booked into the jail without incident. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
