Repairs on I-40 begin next week

KINGMAN - The westbound Stockton Hill on-ramp for Interstate 40 will be closed next week while the Arizona Department of Transportation conducts spot pavement repairs.

The on-ramp will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Monday. Detours will be in place and motorists are advised to use the Beale Street or the Andy Devine Avenue on-ramps.

The repairs will continue through Thursday on eastbound and westbound I-40 between the Beale Street and the Andy Devine Avenue traffic interchanges. Lane restrictions will be in place from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

"That is interim (repairs) until we get to the full pave and preservation job," said Michele E. Beggs, public information officer for ADOT.

Full repaving of the stretch of I-40 between Rattlesnake Wash bridges and the McConnico interchange is not slated until fiscal year 2010, which begins on July 1, 2009.

Motorists are advised to watch for construction personnel and public safety officers and to obey all posted speed limit signs while traveling through the construction area.
