Apply by Thursday night or mistakes won't be forgiven
KINGMAN - The 2008-2009 Arizona Hunting and Trapping Regulations booklet is out and available at all of the local sporting goods stores, but sportsmen have to apply by tomorrow evening at 7 if they want in under the department's grace period rule
Here is how this works: If you apply for a tag before the May 29 deadline and make a mistake, the department will try three times in a 24-hour period to contact you by phone to correct the mistake.
That means you'll be in the draw.
However, apply after the May 29 deadline and make a mistake and you're not only out of this year's draw, but if you've been applying for more than five years, then you'll lose the loyalty bonus points that you've accumulated.
Sportsmen are reminded that there are no online applications; all applications must be applied for with the paper application forms.
All sportsmen must have a hunting license before applying for tags or you must apply for a license with the tag application.
All fees must be included and personal checks are acceptable, though a non-sufficient funds check will get you tossed out of the draw and subject to other action by the department.
Applications must be received by 7 p.m. Thursday at a department office and postmarks don't count to be eligible for the early bird rule.
Applications can be dropped off at the Region III office at 5325 N. Stockton Hill Road.
The final day to apply for fall deer, turkey and bighorn sheep tags is June 10.
