Valle Vista prepares for egg hunt

Friday night dinners are back in Valle Vista and have been for several weeks. There is a different special every week, so be sure to call the Clubhouse to see what is on the menu for that week and to make your reservations.

The Community Events Committee has several events planned for April and May.The Easter egg hunt starts at 1 p.m. April 12 on the golf course in front of the Community Center on the 10th tee/fairway.

The Community Events Committee is again asking for donations of small pieces of wrapped candy that will fit into plastic Easter eggs. We are also asking for donations of plastic Easter eggs, both large and small. You may bring them to the office at the Community Center until Saturday. The Community Garage Sale and Carnival in the Park is on May 16. We will be collecting any donations of garage sale items - furniture, household goods, clothing, children's toys and clothes, exercise equipment, golf equipment and sporting goods. The Community Garage Sale benefits the Valle Vista Community Events Committee and funds many of children's and multigenerational activities such as Halloween, Easter and Christmas events, etc.

To donate, give one of the people below a call. They will meet you at the Mountain Vista Storage Units to store it. The Friends of the Valle Vista Library are holding a book and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 18. Lots of VHS tapes and some audio cassettes in addition to the usual big selection of hardbound and paperback books will be offered. A variety of cookies and breads will be on sale and available to sample as well. Please bring any items you wish to donate to the sale to the library during our open hours prior to April 18.

We continue to collect items at the library to support our troops overseas. Place any items you wish to send in our collection box.

If you or a friend need help with computer-related projects or questions, be sure to call Debbie at 692-5715 to arrange a free training session. She is in Valle Vista on Thursday afternoons.

We welcome any ideas you have for programs, books to discuss or other ways to help our library better serve the community. The Men's Club saw 32 members play March 25 to a four-man team, blind draw, progressive. Results are as follows:

1st with a net 107 was the team of Stoyan Mirovaliev, Elbert Gilpin, Roy Franch and Len Druian, followed by Nick Fix, John McDonald, Steve Karlovics and Bob Knais with a net 108.

Closest to the pin went to Elbert Gilpin on the second hole, Paul Carpenter on 7, Don Barnes on 11 and Bill Slankard on 16.

The Valle Vista Men's Club competed against the Lake Havasu Men's Club March 28 in "The Havasu Challenge." The format was a modified Stableford, and Valle Vista went down to defeat by the score of 456 to 437. The trophy will stay at Lake Havasu Island Golf Course and a return match will be played at Valle Vista, possibly on April 18. Each golf club had their own winners, and the Valle Vista winners are as follows:

Ron Winn, 1st with a net 23; Jim Jansen, 2nd with a net 22; John Buschardt, 3rd; Elbert Gilpin, 4th; Don Hudgins, 5th; Levi Pitts, 6th; Bill Slankard, 7th.
