Man arrested for pulling over driver
KINGMAN - A Peach Springs man was arrested Sunday on felony charges of impersonating a police officer after he pulled a woman over for speeding on Route 66.
A 31-year-old woman called police just after noon Sunday and reported that she had been pulled over for speeding by a truck while traveling westbound on Route 66 at milepost 91. The driver of the truck, 76-year-old Dallas Quasula Sr., told the driver she was speeding and advised her of the speed limit.
Quasula was driving an official Hualapai tribe vehicle equipped with emergency lights but is not authorized as a law enforcement official, according to Trish Carter with the Mohave County Sheriff's Office. The stop occurred outside of tribal territory.
The woman, who recognized Quasula, called police to tell them about the incident. When police stopped Quasula, he said he was traveling the speed limit when the female driver passed him at a high rate of speed. That was when he activated his lights, pulled the driver over, and by his account, gave a verbal warning to the woman, Carter said.
Quasula was booked into custody without incident and transported to the Mohave County Jail. His vehicle was towed from the scene.
