Orin William "Bill" Key Jr., died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, at Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George, Utah, after a short illness. Bill was born in Kingman on Oct. 14, 1947, to Orin William Key Sr., and Marjorie Hoffman. He attended school in Kingman and later graduated from Fredonia High School. He married the love of his life, Rainell Judd, on Sept. 3, 1966, in Kanab, Utah.
Bill loved the outdoors and worked as a river guide for Grand Canyon River Expeditions for many years, running rivers in Alaska, Canada, and the U.S. He was also a welder and had developed this skill into an art. He has done many metal sculptures for clients around the world and he called his work a "lifestyle," not a job. He believed his greatest accomplishment in life was becoming "Grandpa" to Daniel, Samantha, and Baby on the way.
Bill is survived by his wife and best friend, Rainell; sons, Jay Daniel Key of Hurricane, W.Va., and Kevin (Kathryn) Key of Kanab, Utah; grandchildren, Daniel Tasman and Samantha Isabel Key of Kanab,; father, Orin (Janice) Key of Skull Valley, Ariz; brother, Tim (Mary) Key of Cederedge, Colo.; sister, Michelle Key of Prescott; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie Hoffman; and brother, Danny Key. Services were held in Kanab on Feb. 14.
"When loved ones become a memory, memories become a treasure." Bill was greatly loved and his memories will be treasured by many.
