Robert and Rita Maderick
Robert and Rita Maderick of Kingman are celebrating their 60th Wedding Anniversary. Childhood sweethearts, the couple met in their hometown, Hazleton, Pa., during the days of World War II. Robert remembers waiting on the girl, RitaMarie Kushnernick, who would become his wife of 60 years. She would come into the local butcher shop where he worked. Robert says he was positive from the first time they met that she was the one. After more than six decades we must suppose that he was right. The couple graduated from Hazleton High School and on Jan. 22, 1949, they married. In 1953, they moved to New Jersey, in 1967 to California, finally settling down in Kingman in 2003. Robert spent most of his professional life in the meat processing industry in New York, New Jersey and Los Angeles. Later, he worked in the finance business in Southern California. Rita is a trained decorator and has been a career accountant.
The couple have three children: Joseph Maderick of Kingman has three grown sons; Michelle Maderick of Riverside, Calif., has three sons and a daughter; and Robert Maderick of Las Vegas has two sons. The couple have nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
