DUI patrol will be out in force this weekend

KINGMAN - The Fourth of July weekend is always filled with fun, fireworks and family parties.

And to make sure everyone gets home safe, the Western Arizona DUI Task Force will be on patrol this weekend.

The task force consists of officers from the Kingman Police Department, Mohave County Sheriff's Office, Arizona Department of Public Safety, the La Paz County Sheriff's Office and others.

These officers will be on the lookout for drunken drivers all weekend long.

Last year, the task force arrested 25 motorists on suspicion of DUI. Of those 25 arrests, 20 were for misdemeanor DUI and five were for aggravated and extreme DUI.

The blood alcohol concentration for last year's arrests were around .15 percent.

The legal BAC limit for drivers in Arizona is .08 percent.

An extreme DUI is a BAC of .15 percent or more and a super-extreme DUI is a BAC of .20 or more.

The task force encourages everyone to stay safe this weekend.

Don't drink and drive.
