Photo: A Week in Rome
Pastor Kent Simmons (with guitar) leads a song Tuesday evening at the Canyon Community Church with help from (left) Samantha Ticknor and Tami Kidd. The church held a weeklong summer Bible camp titled "Rome: Paul and the Underground Church" for kids ages 4-12. Church members contributed time and artistic skills creating "Rome" inside the church. Kids attending the event learned what it was like to be Christian 2,000 years ago. They learned about daily life in ancient Rome, the beginnings of Christianity and the story of Paul. There were activities, singing, food, skits and "Roman chariots" that kids could have their picture taken in. Pastor Kent said about 50 percent of the kids were not regular members of the church but were there to enjoy what is an annual summer activity at the church.
