Suspect in church camp abuse jailed
KINGMAN - A Kingman man was arrested by Prescott Police officers Tuesday on suspicion of sexually molesting an 8-year-old girl on a church camping trip.
According to the PPD, Patrick West-Owens, 20, was on a church camping trip at Yavapines, a campground in the 2900 block of Iron Springs Road in Prescott.
Sometime during the night of June 14 and the early morning of June 15, West-Owens, who was staying in the same cabin as the girl's family, coaxed the 8-year-old into his bunk, according to PPD.
The girl told her family what happened Monday morning. The family took West-Owens back to Kingman and then returned to the camp.
After talking with friends and church leaders, the family decided to alert the Prescott Police Department.
PPD detectives then drove to Kingman where they interviewed West-Owens and arrested him on suspicion of three felony counts of sexual assault, three felony counts of sexual abuse and one count of indecent exposure.
West-Owens is currently being held without bond pending his next court appearance on June 23.
