Assault suspect arrested
Barnett accused of entering home, molesting child

KINGMAN - A Kingman man was arrested Thursday morning for allegedly breaking into a family's home and molesting a child.

Mohave County Sheriff's detectives arrested Steven James Bennett, 23, on suspicion of felony aggravated assault, burglary, sexual conduct with a minor, molestation of a child and criminal trespass.

According to MCSO, sometime before 5 a.m. Thursday, Bennett entered a home in the 4000 block of Ryan Avenue through a door and molested the child. The mother heard something, woke up, discovered what was happening and called MCSO.

MCSO is not releasing the age of the child. Deputies believe Bennett lives in the area, but the family does not know him.

Deputies contacted Bennett, took him into custody and booked him into the county jail.
