Rash of vehicle thefts prompts KPD to warn residents to keep cars locked

KINGMAN - The Kingman Police Department is warning residents to lock their vehicles or risk losing them.

The department has seen a significant increase in motor vehicle thefts and vehicle burglaries in April and in the first few weeks of May.

Last year, the department had 22 vehicle burglaries. This year, they've seen the same amount in the past 12 days.

The department reminds residents that one of the best ways to prevent having a vehicle or valuables inside the vehicle stolen is to lock the vehicle when it's not in use. Even if it's parked in your driveway.

Anyone with information about the recent burglaries and stolen vehicles should call KPD at 753-2191.
