NAYSL wraps up season Saturday
Top teams to play two games each in tournament

KINGMAN - The Northern Arizona Youth Soccer League will hold its postseason tournament starting at 8 a.m. Saturday at Centennial Park. The top four teams in the Under-8, U10, U12, and U15 divisions will square off for two games each.

In the U8 division, Bracket A winner Taflan's Quality Automotive Turbos (9-1-0) will take the field against Bracket B runner-up Desert Edge Carpentry (7-2-1) at 9:15. The 10:30 match pits Bracket B winner Mandarin Orchid House (7-1-2) against Bracket A runner-up The Mahoney Group (8-2-0).

The Mahoney Group also has a U10 team in the playoffs. The regular season champion (8-0-2) will face No. 4-seeded Mohave Wireless (7-2-1) at 8. The No. 2 seed, Promoting Lifetime Activity for Youth (8-2-0), takes on No. 3 Mertens Heavy Equipment Repair (7-1-2) at 9:45.

Also at 8, U12 No. 1 seed Dunton Motorsports Arctic Cats (7-0-3) squares off against No. 4 Sub Base (5-5-0). The Nos. 2-3 game features Ransdell's Dental Decepticons (7-1-2) and Pesty Pest Control (7-2-1) at 9:45.

In U15, top seed The Phoenix Grill (8-1-1) takes on No. 4 Stagner Eye Center (3-4-3) at 8. The 9:45 match showcases No. 2 Greatwest Heavy Towing (8-2-0) and No. 3 Glass Chiropractic Racers (4-3-3).

All divisions will have consolation matches beginning at 1:15 p.m. The championship match for U8 is slated for 2:30, while all other divisions' championships will kick off at 3.

The Under-19 division held its tournament this past weekend in a round-robin format. In the first match, Brackett Aero Filters and Steel Buildings battled to a 5-5 tie in regulation. Brackett won the match on penalty kicks, 2-1.

The second match saw the White Wind Tigers hand Brackett a 5-2 defeat. White Wind came back strong in the final game, holding off the regular season champion Steel Buildings 6-4 to walk off with the first-place medals. Brackett took the silver, and Steel Buildings settled for bronze.

Coaches, assistant coaches and sponsors who commit on Saturday for the 2010 "Silver Anniversary" season will be allowed to register their children on their committed teams during the tournament. Registration for all others will begin in April at the KRMC Kids' Day.
