Letter: Cut the fat now, pay less later
Just when I thought Kingman was a loser because of its local politicians seeming to have their heads up their "you know where," along comes the best editorial I've read in months. Thank you, Mr. Borgard, and let's hope they heed your words.
But I could not help noticing that your editorial is a parallel to exactly what healthcare reform is all about. Cutting the excess spending will help pay for this desperately needed reform. Like you said, "the fat is always at the top of the hog," and those upper management jobs. Just like in health insurance, those CEOs are sucking in billions of dollars from the American people. So many Republicans are screaming that we cannot afford it. While the president has been saying, by curtailing the waste now, we will ultimately cover the cost. Sound familiar?
Why run more businesses out of town with higher taxes? And, why overcharge healthy and sick people so that insurance executives can live high off the hog. Whether it be local or national, now is the time to cut the fat. And in the end, we will all pay less.
