MCSO: Local man murdered

Authorities not releasing cause of death at this time

KINGMAN - The Mohave County Sheriff's Office is investigating the apparent murder of a 37-year-old Kingman man killed Monday night.

The body of Christopher J. Gillespie was discovered around 9 p.m. Monday night after his girlfriend led them to an area off of Old Trails Road near the second Black Bridge. Old Trails Road runs parallel to the portion of Historic Route 66 that breaks off at Andy Devine Avenue and Beale Street.

Trish Carter, spokesperson for the Sheriff's Office, said investigators are releasing few details about the incident except to say that it is being investigated as a homicide. Gillespie apparently died earlier that evening, she said.

Carter said investigators have a suspected cause of death but are not releasing it pending the results of an autopsy.

The girlfriend was apparently with Gillespie when he was killed. She was interviewed by detectives and is not considered a suspect at this time.

Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Mohave County Sheriff's Office at (928) 753-0753 or Mohave Silent Witness (928) 753-1234.
