KINGMAN - Mohave County Sheriff's deputies arrested Cory Dean Ford, 21, and Mark Luke Shaffer II, 18, both of Kingman April 21 for felony possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the area of Northern Avenue and Van Nuys Road around 9:55 p.m. and contacted Ford, the driver, and immediately smelled an odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Deputies observed a metal cylinder, which is used to grind marijuana, on the driver's side rear floorboard. Deputies had Ford and the passengers, identified as Shaffer and a 17-year-old girl of Kingman, exit the vehicle. A search of Shaffer revealed a glass pipe with burnt residue. A search of the vehicle revealed a scale, a second grinder which contained 3.5 grams of marijuana, a plastic bag containing 40 grams of marijuana located under the front passenger seat and a marijuana cigarette. The juvenile was released to her mother at the scene. Ford and Shaffer were taken into custody without incident.
KINGMAN - Mohave County Sheriff's deputies arrested Alejandro Anthony Amaro, 20, of Kingman on April 22 for felony possession of burglary tools and for several outstanding warrants. Deputies observed a vehicle traveling in the area of Roosevelt Street and Neal around 5:30 p.m. They recognized the driver, Amaro, from previous contacts and knew him to have outstanding warrants. The deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the area of Northern Avenue and Arizona. Amaro allegedly continued traveling at a high rate of speed, refusing to stop. A short time later, deputies observed the vehicle parked in the area of Kino and Irving. Deputies spoke with a witness, who observed the driver enter a residence in the 3700 block of Roosevelt. Deputies responded to the residence and found Amaro. He was arrested without incident. A search of the vehicle prior to being towed revealed two tools commonly used during auto burglaries and auto thefts. A records check also revealed Amaro to have a felony warrant for unlawful flight and two warrants for failure to appear and a warrant for failure to pay fines issued by Kingman Justice Court. Amaro was also found to have two warrants for probation violation and a warrant for failure to appear issued by Kingman Municipal Court.
