Graduates: Zane K. Fawson, & Jenny Marie Nelson
Zane K. Fawson graduated from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott on Dec. 12 with a bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering. Zane was born and raised in Kingman. He started classes at Kingman Academy of Learning the day they opened, where he completed his elementary education. He graduated from Kingman High School in 2004. After graduation, he moved to Sullivan, Ill., with his maternal grandparents, Kent and Sharon Emel. He attended Lakeland College for two years. In 2006, he returned to Arizona to complete his studies in Prescott. Zane is the son of Renie and Becky Fawson of Kingman. He is the grandson of Mavis Fawson and the late Gene Fawson. He has been accepted to the Masters Program at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University's World Wide Campus where he will seek a master's degree in Aeronautical Science.
Jenny Marie Nelson of Kingman was awarded a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education on Dec. 12 from Prescott College. The college's community-based bachelor's program allows students to continue to live and work in their home communities with the guidance of local advisors and mentors while completing their degree.
Kaplan University celebrated the graduation of its winter 2010 class Jan. 30 in Miami. General Colin L. Powell, the 65th secretary of state and former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, served as the commencement speaker. Kirstin Falkowsky and Arlene Morris, both from Kingman, were awarded Associate of Applied Science in Paralegal Studies degrees.
